AFRUCA, a group that campaigns against child abuse and educates young Africans living in Britain about their rights, has received a 5,400 grant from the Carnegie UK Trust. AFRUCA will use the money to set up a youth forum.

News in brief: Man convicted of child indecency did not advise Metropolitan Police

The Metropolitan Police says a man convicted last week of child indecency offences, who had given lectures on child pornography to its officers - and to staff of other agencies - had at "no stage" advised it on matters relating to child protection. Stephen King, 54, had also given advice to defence solicitors. He was jailed for gross indecency under a different name in 1989 but was able to commit further offences as the sex offenders register did not exist at that time.
