NCB Now: NCB research into free education

Friday, July 8, 2011

As the Education Bill is being debated in the House of Lords, new research from NCB and the National Centre for Social Research explores how free education for disadvantaged two-year-olds has been delivered across eight case-study areas.

The research, funded by the Department for Education and based on interviews with local authority representatives and childcare providers, looks at the programme that has provided free early education to some disadvantaged two-year-olds. The programme aims to improve disadvantaged children's learning so that by the age of five they are as ready as their more advantaged peers to fully benefit from school.
