Wales: Assembly to act to boost education

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Legislation to improve education for 14- to 19-year-olds in Wales is to be introduced in the autumn.

Outlining the legislative programme last week, Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan also pledged to tackle child poverty.

It is the first year the Government of Wales Act 2006 is in force, enabling the Assembly Government to take power from the UK Parliament in certain areas, using a Legislative Competence Order.
