Volunteering charity V is expanding its work beyond 16- to 25-year-olds with the launch of an adult volunteering programme.
A spokesman from the charity confirmed V is expanding its offer as future funding from government remains in doubt.
Today (30 November) chief executive Terry Ryall will launch Volunteering Works, an employee volunteering website that provides employers with tools to monitor and measure the impact of employee volunteering as part of corporate social responsibility goals.
Businesses will be expected to make a donation to the charity to access the website, but charities will be able to post volunteering opportunities for free.
"The government is challenging voluntary organisations to find new ways to sustain charities working with young people and this is one of the ways V intends to do so," said Ryall.
"Over the past four years V has worked with more than 200 corporate partners who have been generous towards volunteering and, with this in mind, we are launching Volunteering Works. V has done tremendous work building platforms for the sector that appeal to young people and we are now working to apply this to other areas to support our core work."
Companies supporting the initiative include BP, Sainsbury's and Nike.
The charity was recently announced as a delivery partner for the National Citizen Service, alongside partner organisation the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. But its funding from the Office for Civil Society is unconfirmed beyond March 2011.
