Roby Park Primary School, Huyton

What did they do? Pupils at Roby Park Primary School in Huyton spent a day raising money for Children in Need. A "Pudsey in the Spotlight" talent show kicked off the day. "We had jujitsu performances, breakdancing and solo singers, to name just a few," says head teacher Ruth Harrison. "The whole school got involved and took their performance seriously."

What else? Pupils were invited to go into school dressed in something spotty, from Pudsey costumes to spotty T-shirts. Four of the school's governors were appointed as judges for the Pudsey-themed talent show, with Strictly Come Dancing-style voting. The fun continued into the afternoon, with pupils baking and decorating spotty biscuits and having their faces painted in the style of Pudsey bear.

How did it go? All the pupils who took part in the talent competition were rewarded with a special Pudsey badge, with winners taking home a Pudsey teddy bear. "Both the pupils and teachers got into the spirit of the day and everyone had a wonderful time. So far, we have managed to raise almost £500, which has smashed our total for last year," says school business manager Kirstie Carroll, who organised the day. "We have never done anything on this scale before."
