PEOPLE: McConnell to head Carnegie UK Trust

Tuesday, April 1, 2003

The Carnegie UK Trust has appointed a new chief executive with an extensive background in youth work.

Charlie McConnell, currently head of community learning and development at the Scottish Executive, will take up the post in July.

Between 1988 and 1993, McConnell worked for voluntary sector umbrella body the Community Development Foundation, and most recently he was chief executive of the Scottish Community Education Council, later renamed Community Learning Scotland.

He will succeed John Naylor, who is retiring but will take an active role in the voluntary sector.
