NEWS IN BRIEF: Cambridgeshire County Council says no cuts in children's services

Cambridgeshire County Council has insisted there will be no cuts to children's services despite a £4.5m overspend by its social services department. The financial shortfall was caused by problems with a new financial computer system and poor staff training in budget management. "We have implemented a three-year strategy to bring the budget back in line with demand and repay the overspend," said a spokesman.
