MEDIA: Project to let young try web journalism

A youth project is to allow young people to put together an online magazine called InSITE.

Young people can take on roles including being a local reporter, joining the team of editors or helping to design web pages.

The project is for 13- to 25-year-olds and has funding for five years from Comic Relief, the Herefordshire Partnership and the Rank Foundation.

Julie Lachaud, youth media worker at Rural Media Company, the charity running the scheme, said: "We think it will be the biggest in the UK in terms of range of content and the contribution of young people.

"It will give young people a chance to learn about journalism and also to gain softer skills such as better communication."
