Library offers rap sessions to teens

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Music-mad young people in north London are being given the chance to learn the latest MC skills.

Professional MC experts, Point Blank, will be appearing at Enfield Highway Library in a series of four sessions that teach young people the skills needed to MC.

Young people will be given the opportunity to learn about rhyming, freestyling, battling, performing, composing and all the lyrical skills to make it in the music business. There will also be the chance to record and perform and also to hear the latest sounds.

Conservative councillor Paul McCannah, lead member for leisure, culture and Olympics in Enfield, said he hoped young people would take part in the sessions. "Libraries are places with innovative ideas for everyone to enjoy," he said.

"These free sessions with MC professionals aim to encourage musical and lyrical talent and I know they will be great fun."

A recent report entitled What should young people expect library services to offer? encouraged libraries to consider ways of attracting young people.
