The results of the General Social Care Council (GSCC) poll are not unexpected but what is surprising is that the GSCC has chosen to publish this as the regulators of education and training.
Not only do we need higher standards in training, we also need to ensure students have high-quality practice placements and that once qualified, social workers undertake professional development and receive regular supervision.
The Social Work Taskforce recommendations highlighted all of these points and also outlined the need for an independent college of social work, so let's stop talking about what is needed and put some plans in to place to achieve the outcomes of the report.
