Leading charities from across the children's and youth sector have pledged their support for CYP Now's For Youth's Sake campaign.

Those backing the cause include 4Children, the British Youth Council, the Confederation of Heads of Young People's Services (Chyps), the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services, National Children's Bureau and National Youth Agency.

The online pledge received more than 200 signatures in the first week of the campaign to raise awareness of the invaluable role young people's services play and show how they cannot be cut without consequence.

David Wright, Chyps chief executive, said: "Chyps believes youth work plays a vital part in providing opportunities and support for young people. We need to value all those engaged in youth work every night of the week and every week of the year. Chyps is happy to support For Youth's Sake."

Anne Longfield, chief executive of 4Children, added: "4Children is pleased to back the For Youth's Sake campaign. With almost a million young people not in employment, education or training, it has never been more important for organisations to come together to ensure young people's voices are heard so they don't bear the brunt of a financial crisis that they had no part in creating, but have a massive contribution to make in resolving."
