Education

I would completely revamp our education system to give individuals who are less academic the same chances of success in later life as those who flourish under our current system.
From an early age, thousands of children are constantly reminded of the importance of education. But education doesn't work for everyone. Every school and college puts such an emphasis on results that those students who have more practical talents fall off the radar and become disillusioned.
Education is great if it works out, but for lots of people it doesn't. What happens to them? It doesn't take a genius to know that not everyone is suited to academic studies. Our present education system fails to give young people an understanding of the working world and how diverse it really is. The system needs to have more emphasis on skills and coping strategies for school leavers who are not as academic as others.
The revamp would ensure young people leave school with a sense of purpose, direction and practical skills. This is even more important considering the proposed changes to tuition fees, which will price many out of the university market.
