Connexions: Sussex board acts upon youth input

Tuesday, June 7, 2005

Connexions Sussex last week approved its first business plan since appointing a young person to its board last October.

The plan contained numerous measures designed to increase young people's involvement in the service and is the first to be approved since 18-year-old Jessica Titchener was made the organisation's vice-chair.

Measures to give young people a say in recruitment and marketing are central to the plans. They also commit the service to formulating a set of protocols for consulting teenagers about Connexions' services.

Jessica said: "It has been fantastic to do this. Young people need to be involved in decisions about Connexions right across the board and I think these plans will make sure this happens. If it doesn't help involve young people at ground level, then there's not much point."
