Young Gloucestershire's YG Hub on Tewkesbury High Street opened for two consecutive days to support young people impacted by the incident which took place on Monday (10 July).

Writing on Twitter, following the incident, the organisation said: "We'll be there with our mental health youth workers all day if young people want someone to talk to about today's events."

The hub, which typically offers services such as counselling and mentoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm, also opened on the day of the stabbing to support those affected.

Councillor Richard Stanley, leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council, wrote on Facebook: “The impact on staff and pupils at the school will no doubt be significant, and we are offering our support to partner agencies, including Young Gloucestershire, which is opening its hub for young people and parents to go for support and a safe space to congregate.”

Gloucestershire Police said that officers had been called to the school at 9am following reports of a threat to a teacher.

Assistant chief constable Richard Ocone said in a statement: "Minutes later we received a call from the ambulance service telling us a male teacher had been stabbed in a corridor at the school."

The teacher has since been discharged from hospital.

A 15-year-old boy from Tewkesbury was arrested around three miles from the school at 11am on the day of the incident. He was charged last night (11 July) with section 18 attempt wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article on school premises. He will appear at Cheltenham Magistrates Court today (12 July).

Writing on Twitter, Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, said: "I am deeply concerned by reports of a stabbing at Tewkesbury School. We are closely monitoring the situation and remain hugely grateful to the emergency services who are currently on the scene. My department is on hand to support the school as the situation unfolds."
