St Helens seeks public opinion on 150m school refurbishment cash

Residents in St Helens are to help decide how to spend 150m on local schools.
Parents, young people and members of the community are being invited to give their views in a public consultation on how the council’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) money should be used.
The cash is intended to modernise all of the borough’s secondary schools and will help provide a new direction for teaching and learning, in order to raise standards.
Local authorities have been given funding for school refurbishments through government’s BSF programme, which aims to rebuild or refurbish every secondary school in England within 15 years.
St Helens Council has organised public meetings which will take place on 11 and 24 June.
