NYA launches new round of training bursaries

The bursaries, funded through a £790,000 government investment, are aimed at increasing access to youth work training at Levels 2 and 3 for 547 professionals.  

NYA works in partnership with the Network of Regional Youth Work Units to design and deliver the bursaries through a localised and needs-based approach.

For this latest round of bursaries there will also be targeted investment to ensure that under-represented parts of the youth sector can access qualifications, according to NYA.

It will support access to leadership, management and assessor training across England for the first time.

The NYA first launched training bursaries in November 2019 and has so far offered funding to 650 youth workers.

Leigh Middleton, chief executive of the NYA, said: “NYA is delighted to announce a third year of funding for youth work training.  

“Working with our fantastic partners in the Regional Youth Work Units we are able to continue to invest in more people and grow the youth workforce, a critical step in rebuilding and strengthening youth services across the country. 

“We have worked with the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport over the last three years to fund nearly 1,200 trusted adults to have the skills to support the most vulnerable young people in communities.”
