Lottery funding for construction industry youth project

Welsh young people who are not in education, training or employment are to be encouraged to enter the construction industry.
The Construction Youth Trust is setting up a national project that will go into the most disadvantaged areas of the country to deliver workshops.
The Construction for Communities project will be aimed at disaffected young people, young offenders, and other marginalised groups. The workshops will cover CV writing and interview techniques, as well as offering taster sessions in construction sector trades.
The Big Lottery Fund has given £355,591 to the 39 month scheme, which will launch in Neath Port Talbot and Rhondda Cynon Taff before expanding to other areas.
The cash comes from the Stepping Stones community fund. It was announced as part of a £7m allocation.
Other beneficiaries include The Women's Workshop Cardiff Training Centre, which will use its grant of £856,696 to run a five-year project for young mothers.
