Ten local authorities have become the first to reach their target for phase two Sure Start children's centres.
Southampton, Isle of Wight, Shropshire, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Bexley, Redcar and Cleveland, Sunderland, Herefordshire and Tameside have all reached the milestone.
Liz Railton, programme director for Together for Children, said: "It is fantastic for children and families living in these local authorities that so many of their services are now up and running and ready for the next stage of their development.
"These authorities have gained some useful momentum in ensuring that children's centres play their part in improving outcomes."
