Youth clubs in Cardiff are benefiting from new stereo equipment and television sets that have been seized by police as a result of investigations relating to persistent noise offenders.
Cardiff Council's noise service deals with over 3,000 complaints every year. More than 50 per cent of noise complaints relate to amplified music.
As part of Noise Action Week 2010, the goods that have been seized throughout the year have been offered to Cardiff Council's Youth Service for use in the council's youth centres.
"It's not often that there is a positive outcome to antisocial behaviour in communities," said Dan Wilson, youth community education officer at the council. "It will be great to see the equipment being used appropriately in dedicated environments for young people."
The equipment may also be used as a means of discussing the possible consequences of noise pollution and antisocial behaviour with young people attending the centres.
