The three-year programme is open to those who gained a degree in social work with a 2:1 or above in 2020 or 2021 and have not taken part in an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

The course will see participants gain hands-on experience in social work through an ASYE, six months working within a local authority as well as being offered further academic training, according to Cafcass.

Candidates are asked to select three locations from a possible 18 as part of their applications - areas across England include Leeds, York, Birmingham, Reading, Oxford and London.

This programme is overseen by the Cafcass Social Work Academy and enables NQSW to develop practice skills in a safe environment, according to Cafcass.

Sarah Parsons, assistant director for the national improvement service and principal social worker, said: “Our focus is always on the best outcomes for children, who will be depending on us to secure the right result at a crucial time.

“Determination and resilience are essential, along with a gift for empathy, communication and analysis for the child. Training can be challenging, but participants will finish with a fantastic grounding for their future career.”

The deadline for applications is 9 May.
