Schools are being urged to get involved in a business competition being staged next month as part of Enterprise Week.

Government backed business campaign group Make Your Mark is running the competition offering schools the chance to win £3,000 for exciting business and money making ideas. The competition is open to pupils aged between 14 and 19.

Catherine Ritman Smith, Make Your Mark’s head of education, said: “This is a fun way to encourage young people to think big and come up with solutions to global problems, be they economic, social or environmental.

“We hope that young people taking part will also finish the challenge feeling more confident, inspired and able to take risks.”

Enterprise Week takes place between 17 and 23 November. Promotional activity features the actors Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries, who played Max and OB in Channel Four’s soap Hollyoaks.

Around 38,000 students took art in last year’s competition. Winning entries included an idea by pupils at Wickersley School and Sports College, Rotherham, called ‘truck trackers’ to help small businesses better organise their delivery systems.
