Below are answers to some of the questions we are asked most frequently about access to the Children & Young People Now website.

Why can't I access certain content?

Only subscribers can access all content on Children & Young People Now. View the different subscription options and what they give you.

How does that differ from registration and what does registration give?

Registration to Children & Young People Now is free. Registration lets you:

  • Read a limited number of articles free per month
  • Sign up for email bulletins
  • Comment on articles
  • Participate in the Forum

I am not able to view the online content that used to be available to me.

Only subscribers can access all content on Children & Young People Now. To gain full access to all articles you will have to subscribe to Children & Young People Now.

What happened to the "locked content" icons? Are all the articles now free?

We have replaced the locked content icons with a new gating policy which allows free access to a limited number of published articles for non-subscribers. Should you want to access more articles, you will need to register your details or subscribe to Children & Young People Now.

How do I sign in to the site?

Please go to the Sign in page. You will be asked for your email address and your password.

Institutional sign-in

If you are at a university, college or other institution that subscribes to Children & Young People Now, you may be able to sign in using your institutional username and password.

Go to the Sign in page and click the "Institution Sign-in" button. Enter the name of your institution in the "Studying?" box and click Find. If your institution is listed, click its name and then click the green Login button. (If your institution doesn't have a subscription to Children & Young People Now you'll be told here). Enter your institutional username and password and you'll be redirected back to the content you were reading.

If you think your institution should subscribe to Children & Young People Now, tell your librarian. They can contact our institutional sales team for more information.

I’m a subscriber. Why can’t I sign in?

In order to sign in, subscribers must first activate their web account. Email customer support with your customer number (printed on the address label of the magazine wrapper) or name and delivery address, and your access will be activated within 24 hours.

Do I have to sign in each time I visit the site?

No. If you check the 'remember me' checkbox when you sign in, you will not be asked to sign in next time, unless you click to “Sign out” or visit from a different computer.

I have forgotten my password. What should I do?

If you have forgotten your password, you can request a password reminder by email.

I am having problems signing in or activating my account. Is there anybody I can contact?
