MP for Hampstead and Kilburn Tulip Siddiq has two pre-school age children and relies on childcare during the week to do her job – and has to rush off to collect them from nursery straight after this interview.

Siddiq has been an MP for six years before which she was a councillor on Camden Council, where she was the cabinet member for culture and communities. Before entering politics, she worked for a number of charities, including Save the Children, and campaigned for Barack Obama and former Labour leader Ed Miliband.

Siddiq is spearheading her party’s “Big Conversation” on the early years, which will include a series of events to talk to families about the importance of early education and childcare services, including cuts to provision.
