Workshop: Brain, Body and Behaviour: Understanding the ‘Why' of Children's Behaviour

Events
Monday, February 3, 2014

When we are stressed chemicals are released in the body that affect the way we think, feel and act. Children who are living in difficult life situations are experiencing a constant drip feed of these toxic chemicals. Unlike most adults they are unable to self regulate, and become hyper or hypo-aroused. When in this state children are unable to access learning and become fixed in fight or flight mode.

During this training day we will cover:

•    How to identify hyper and hypo-arousal
•    How to work within the 'window of tolerance'
•    How to recognise stress in children
•    The neurobiology of stress
•    The impact of stress on behaviour
•    The body's reaction to stress

Cost: £90 per person
