Drive to recruit social workers

Wednesday, January 8, 2003

Scotlands local authorities are looking at introducing golden hello packages for social workers in a bid to tackle youth crime.

The move is being considered by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) as a way of increasing the number of social workers dealing with young offenders in Scotland. A spokesman said: The idea of golden hellos could help attract more people into this valuable and worthwhile profession.Cash incentives and flexible working hours and practices are just some of the solutions being considered by local authorities, according to research by a COSLA taskforce.
