NEWS IN BRIEF: Bedfordshire CC appoints PricewaterhouseCoopers

Bedfordshire County Council has appointed consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers to help with problems in its social services department following criticism from a second Social Services Inspectorate report. The report, which was based on an inspection last October, said the council had made "insufficient improvement" since June 2002.
