Youth training offered to health staff

1 min read Health
A training scheme to improve the quality of services health professionals give to young people has been launched this week.

The Department of Health-funded initiative, which has been developed by a coalition of nursing and medical colleges led by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), will offer doctors, nurses and other health professionals training to help them better understand adolescent health needs.

The Adolescent Health Project will include face-to-face learning, as well as e-learning modules, which deal with issues such as development, communication skills, consent and confidentiality issues, sexual health and drug use. The initiative will also educate health professionals about adolescent obesity and eating disorders, mental health and how to make health services more accessible to young people.
