Youth Taskforce scrapped from DfE

The government has scrapped the unit responsible for many of the youth sector reforms over the past three years.

The Youth Taskforce has been closed following the restructure of the Department for Education last month. Its responsibilities have been transferred to the newly created Supporting Children and Young People Group, led by Anne Jackson.

The Youth Taskforce led the last government's efforts to tackle youth crime and antisocial behaviour, and last year oversaw the Open Weekend campaign, which encouraged youth services to provide more activities on Friday and Saturday nights.
