Two options for the future of the service have been drawn up, which staff are being consulted on over the next few weeks.
The first is bringing Connexions services "in house" from their home at Connexions Cheshire and Warrington and merging them with the youth service. The second is creating a merged organisation outside the council, which would operate the youth service and Connexions.
If this option goes ahead, it is thought Cheshire would become the first authority to outsource youth services to Connexions.
Unison regional officer Keith Bradley said the options were being considered to reverse a funding crisis in Cheshire. "We have concerns about what will happen either way," he said. "We'd rather see stable and adequate funding for the youth service than it being integrated with Connexions."
