During the hour-long session on 23 January, MPs were allowed to challenge ministers from four Government departments on issues affecting children and young people.
Government ministers involved during the youth-focused parliamentary session included John Denham, minister for children and young people; Ivan Lewis, minister for young people and learning at the Department for Education and Skills; health minister Jacqui Smith; and sports minister Richard Caborn.
Addressing antisocial behaviour and youth offending levels in the UK, MPs challenged department ministers on the effectiveness of schemes run by the Youth Justice Board (YJB) and their continued funding status.
Denham, also minister for policing, crime reduction and community safety, said participation and re-offending reduction schemes run by the YJB during 2002 would be repeated this year.
