The executive is poised to launch a review of the system, just after a report revealed major failings across agencies and local authorities to meet deadlines. But Maggie Mellon, head of policy at NCH Scotland, said: "We have one of the most modern systems, but it's not being resourced, so the executive should look at that." Moving more cases to the courts would be "a lot more expensive and more time consuming", she added.
NCH Scotland will present findings from its own review of the Children's Hearings system to the executive later this month.
