YMCA calls for new youth assessments

Youth Work
YMCA England is calling on the coalition government to develop "off-the-peg" methods of measuring young people's needs.

In its report Life in all its Fullness, the charity argues that the current plethora of assessment approaches is confusing and makes it too complicated for local authorities commissioning services. Young people are failing to receive the proper skills training they need as a result.

The report adds: "The government should support experts in the field to develop a set of 'off-the-peg' assessment and evaluation tools that would be free for all providers of young people's services."
