ACTION
The Youth Emotional Support (YES) service at West Sussex County Council works to improve the mental health of young people who have not met the threshold for child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), but are in need of some form of intervention at tier one or two. They could be experiencing issues such as low mood, anxiety, family and relationship breakdowns, self-harm, uncontrollable anger and problems at school.
"The service came about after concerns about the number of young people in West Sussex who weren't able to access support for their issues because they didn't meet CAMHS tier three criteria," says Karon Chamberlain, service lead for youth interventions.
