Qualifications are not always required for assistant posts, but nurses, officers or managers will need an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. In Scotland, career progression beyond a senior nursery nurse in a school is not possible without a teaching qualification. Across the sector, salaries depend on the size of the nursery and the needs of the children.
