Workforce: More men studying youth work courses

The number of men starting professionally validated youth work courses has risen slightly this year.

Latest figures from The National Youth Agency show 37.7 per cent of new entrants were male in 2007/08, compared with only 35.3 per cent the year before.

Concerns have been raised in recent years about the declining numbers of men entering youth work. The number of men studying professional youth work qualifications has fluctuated between 33 and 41 per cent since 2001.
