Work Wise: Consultation of the week - Responding to Youth Crime and Antisocial Behaviour

The Independent Commission on Youth Crime and Antisocial Behaviour is seeking views on crime and antisocial behaviour committed by children and young people.

The consultation addresses areas such as prevention and early intervention, age and maturity, accountability and cost-effectiveness. It aims to help establish consistent and fair principles for dealing with antisocial behaviour and youth offending.

A further consultation is being conducted simultaneously with the National Centre for Social Research to get the views of children and young people with experience of the youth justice system. The proposals could become part of a successful reform of the youth justice system in England and Wales, underpinned by an evidence-based and sustainable approach to youth crime. A report on the consultation results is expected in July 2010.
