16 September. Spearheading the Next Phase of Children's Trusts, London. This one-day conference aims to help children's trusts ensure the best possible outcomes for local children and young people.

It will look at how to implement joint commissioning and promote partnership working to ensure trusts comply with new legislation and meet the assessment criteria.

The conference will cover new government guidance on children's trusts and how they fit in with The Children's Plan. There will also be interactive sessions to allow participants to share what they have learned and debate best practice with other local authorities.

- 22 October. Achieve Partnership Working Excellence for Best-Practice Safeguarding, Birmingham. This event will explore strategies to ensure a multi-agency co-ordinated approach to safeguarding. It will look at engaging children, young people and families to ensure their voices are heard when creating policies and putting procedures into practice. The event will also consider safe recruitment involving the vetting and barring scheme and methods to put the Staying Safe Action Plan into daily practice. There will also be interactive breakout sessions looking at how to ensure children feel and stay safe.
