Walking for the deaf: Big Walk Forward boosts coffers by 20,000

Six-year-old Amber Talbott and her three-year-old cousin Adam Kerr enjoy a well-deserved ice cream after taking part in the National Deaf Children's Society's Big Walk Forward fundraising event. A total of 160 people took part in the five-mile walk through central London, which raised 20,000 for the children's charity.

Amber took part in the walk to raise money for her deaf twin brother.Elizabeth Gordon, community fundraising officer at the National DeafChildren's Society, said: "The walk proved to be a great success andevery one of the participants really enjoyed the day. Since there was achoice of two routes for walkers - a five-mile and a 10-mile option -this event was suitable for the whole family. It was a fantastic day andthe money raised will help deaf children and their families all acrossthe UK."
