Labour councillor Claire Kober said she is growing increasinglyconcerned about how reductions to families' local housing allowance willincrease pressure on councils in areas where rents are lower.
The government plans to cap local housing allowance at 30 per cent ofthe average local rents, which have led to warnings that poor familiescould be forced out of more expensive parts of London.
Citing research conducted by think-tank London Councils, which suggeststhat 82,000 families across the capital could become homeless as aresult of the changes, Kober said: "Families in boroughs like my ownwill see other families moving in because our rents are lower.
"That is going to lead to a higher demand on services that we provide.You cannot cut back on demand- led services when people requiresupport.
