Would we allow under-18s and children to play unattended with fireworks? No, we wouldn't. An air rifle is a very dangerous thing as this boy's death proves. I'd like to see a law where no-one under 18 is allowed to touch an air gun.

There have been many accidents over the past few years where children have been seriously injured, and in some cases killed, by air guns. As parents and as a society, we shouldn't be allowing that to happen.

We think the law should be tightened. When the present law was brought in, we were happy that something was done but we weren't satisfied. This case proves everything we've said.
