Organisations with a link to a person under investigation will be made aware of the case to ensure extra safeguards can be put in place until proceedings are over. Information will only be handed out where the employee concerned could pose a risk. Details will not be circulated if the ISA believes the case is unfounded or malicious.
The government made the pledge in its formal response to a consultation into the role and remit of the new body, which goes live in October 2009.
Included in the response is a warning to all employers that they must inform the ISA if they have sacked or would have dismissed an employee because they may be a risk to children.
