Trafficked Children: Paladin-style plan for Birmingham

An initiative to protect trafficked children entering the UK will soon be established in Birmingham, according to the Solicitor General.

Harriet Harman told a conference last week, organised by the charity Africans Unite Against Child Abuse, that something similar to Operation Paladin Child was to be set up.

Paladin was a three-month exercise at Heathrow airport to find out what happened to unaccompanied children from non-EU countries. Its main recommendation was that immigration officers should receive more training in how to judge which unaccompanied minors might be at risk (News, 19-25 May).
