The committee's key aims are to act as the monitoring and accrediting body for the YSQM - the Quality Mark for Services for Young People - and to provide a forum for the discussion of quality issues.
Membership of the committee includes representatives from voluntary and maintained youth services, Ofsted, unions, government offices, regional youth work units and also from wider services for children and young people, health services and Connexions.
YSQM has enjoyed a successful launch, and there are now more than 60 subscribers with enquiries being received weekly. A regional training programme is being planned for later this year. Organisations are feeding into the planning process, identifying training issues that will now be picked up within the programme. Negotiations are continuing to take place and additions to the YSQM web site (www.nya.org.uk/ysqm) will be completed shortly.
