The National Youth Agency: Youth Info

According to charity LifeSIGNS, organisers of the annual Self Injury Awareness Day, self-injury is a coping mechanism. An individual harms their physical self to deal with emotional pain, or to break feelings of numbness by arousing sensation. SIAD aims to raise awareness about self-injury/self-harm, and works to tackle the taboos surrounding the behaviour of hurting yourself to cope with stress and upset.
