Lead Agency: West Dumbartonshire Council
Partners: WDC Museums and Libraries, Clydebank Local History Society and the Scottish Film Archive
The Project: Some 48 young people from Clydebank researched the history and legacy of the Singer sewing machine factory. Supported by their local museum, which houses the world's largest collection of Singer machines, they also used original machines and traditional techniques to create large-scale garments and learned digital image manipulation to create textile sculptures. A touring exhibition and education pack were also produced.
