Written by Gill Valentine, Tracey Skelton and Ruth Butler, the book aims to explain why some groups of young people are vulnerable to becoming socially excluded and to make positive suggestions for change. It describes a study that focuses on two groups of young people who are at risk of experiencing several factors of disadvantage. After discussing the broader significance of its findings, the book goes on to discuss implications for policy and practice in relation to family, education, employment and the community and make recommendations for action.
