THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: New information service to launch

1 min read

Research conducted by The NYA's Information Team found that time and information overload are growing barriers to job effectiveness for youth workers.

"Keeping up to date with policy, practice and developments in the youth work sector is a struggle for most youth workers," said researcher Emily Castle. "Around half of youth workers surveyed stated lack of time as a reason for not reading publications, with 36 per cent reading something only once a month or less."

A new Electronic Information Centre (EIC) is being launched in April to tackle these issues and will offer internet access to journal articles, case studies and news from the field. The Agency is also introducing study days to give youth workers access to library and information facilities, policy documents and computer time, all supported by Information Team staff.
