The National Youth Agency: Free training on participation

From November 2007, Participation Works, a consortium of national charities based at NCB, will be releasing a programme of free participation training across England for organisations whose work or services impacts on the lives of children and young people.

The programme is offering a wide range of courses, from introductory participation workshops to self-assessment and strategic planning, which can be tailored to suit individual needs or specially designed for children and young people.

The extensive range of training includes: workshops on the Hear by Right standards framework; Ready Steady Change; Building a Culture of Participation; Safeguarding - Youth Participation and Overcoming Barriers to Participation.

Qualified Participation Works trainers, some of them young people themselves, have been instrumental in the development and delivery of the programme.

Mandy Douglas, service business manager said: "This is an exciting opportunity for organisations and practitioners to access training, which is specially designed to help them increase the active involvement of children and young people within their organisation."
