The Quality Leaders Project - Youth was initially funded through the National Youth Agency's Partners in Innovation programme as a project providing new skills to librarians in the London Borough of Merton, helping them to widen access for young people from disadvantaged communities such as refugees.
The Hamlyn grant will enable Merton and its partner body London Metropolitan University to expand the programme and bring in a range of other authorities from across England, including South Tyneside, Birmingham, Haringey and Gloucestershire. Included in the training will be good practice in youth work as well as innovation in librarianship.
