THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Enthusiasts gather in Durham for YouthWork History conference

3 mins read

In what seems to be a tradition in the process of establishing itself, youth and community work enthusiasts from all over Britain gathered at Ushaw College, Durham, to take part in the third History of Youth and Community Work study conference organised by the journal Youth and Policy.

Intent on searching for meaning from the work of the past, which can be applied in both the present and the future, practitioners and academics presented and considered a broad range of research.

Ushaw College lends itself splendidly to the occasion, providing the atmospheric backdrop of high ceilings, stained glass windows and stone floors. The conference has been held every two years since 1999 and the greater numbers of people attending this year is testament to its worth and popularity.
